Septarian with enhydro quartz, diamond quartz & UV fluorescence – France

Description

Exceptional small Septarian specimen with a beautiful, water-clear main crystal, numerous small quartz crystals, and orange-brown mineral coatings, possibly ankerite and calcite.

Particularly interesting is the larger, diamond-like quartz crystal at the top of the specimen. This was described as an enhydro quartz by the original finder. Enhydro quartz crystals contain tiny liquid inclusions with a gas bubble that can move when the crystal is oriented accordingly.

Another special feature is revealed under UV light: an intense blue-green, neon-like fluorescence can be observed in the area of the large quartz crystal. The exact cause of the glow has not been determined. It may be due to fluorescent inclusions within the crystal.

The dark gray matrix is covered with numerous tiny, glittering crystals. Small, partially free-standing quartz crystals and the orange-brown mineral coatings create a beautiful contrast to the clear main crystal.

An interesting collector's item with exceptional optical properties and a fascinating crystal landscape.
