An extraordinary sugilite collector's item of a kind that is extremely rarely seen.

This monumental sugilite donut is impressive even just for its dimensions of approx. 50 x 8 mm and a weight of an incredible 154 ct / 30.8 g. Yet its true uniqueness is only revealed in the light:

The material possesses a fascinating translucency and shows the depth characteristic of the highly coveted "gel" quality sugilite. When backlit, the stone literally begins to glow – from delicate lavender and light violet to intense purple zones and deeply saturated violet inclusions. Differing transparent areas, cloudy structures, and stronger color concentrations form a unique natural pattern.

The entire effect of the piece changes depending on the light incidence. In normal light, the donut appears soft, intensely violet, and has an almost painterly structure. However, when held against a strong light source, semi-transparent areas and an extraordinary inner play of color are revealed, lending the stone an almost luminous, three-dimensional depth.

It is precisely this combination of size, weight, color, and translucency that makes this specimen an exceptional piece for discerning sugilite collectors.

Sugilite is among the most coveted purple collector minerals in the world. Particularly intensely colored yet translucent material is available only in very limited quantities and is often referred to by collectors as "gel sugilite." Large, contiguous pieces with such pronounced transparent to semi-transparent areas are correspondingly exceptional.

The donut has been ground and polished to a very high standard. The large, smooth surface makes it possible to observe the natural structure and the different violet color zones across almost the entire piece. At the same time, sufficient material thickness is retained to make the extraordinary depth of the sugilite visible.
