Seraphinite is a clinochlorite variety and a hydrous magnesium, iron, and aluminum silicate. Its crystal system is monoclinic. Seraphinite occurs exclusively in the Lake Baikal region of Siberia, Russia. Its characteristic feature is its deep green color, which is interspersed with shimmering silver patterns that shift depending on the light. Seraphinite owes its name to its supposed connection to the Seraphim, the highest order of angels, due to the feather-like mica inclusions in the stone.
