Seraphinite is a clinochlore variety and a hydrous magnesium, iron, and aluminum silicate. Its crystal system is monoclinic. Seraphinite is found exclusively in the Lake Baikal region of Siberia, Russia. It is characterized by its deep green color, which is interspersed with shimmering silver patterns that move depending on the incidence of light. Seraphinite owes its name to its supposed connection to the Seraphim, the highest order of angels, due to its feather-like mica inclusions in the stone.
