Ruby-Sapphire raw crystal from Tanzania – Natural violet-red corundum
This extraordinary corundum crystal from Tanzania impresses with its natural, nearly hexagonal crystal shape and its fascinating coloration, ranging between deep violet, purple-red, and dark ruby red.
The clearly visible crystal structure, the striking growth faces, and the distinct color zones give this raw crystal a very special character.
Depending on the incidence of light, individual areas appear dark violet, while other parts show a warmer, reddish hue.
An interesting individual piece for lovers of natural gemstones and extraordinary corundum crystals.

WHAT IS RUBY-SAPPHIRE?
Ruby and sapphire both belong to the mineral species corundum.
While the red variety is called ruby, corundums of other colors are classified as sapphires.
In violet-red crystals, the shades can transition into one another, so the distinction between ruby and violet sapphire is not always clear-cut.
The characteristic red color of ruby is primarily caused by small amounts of chromium in the crystal lattice.
The exceptional hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes corundum one of the hardest natural minerals.
NATURAL CRYSTAL STRUCTURE
The original crystal shape of this specimen is particularly fascinating.
The nearly hexagonal faces and the fine, parallel growth lines illustrate the natural formation of the mineral.
Different color intensities, small inclusions, and natural irregularities are part of the individual character of this raw crystal.
