A very rare find

We had samples of this new find from Indonesia tested by the EPI (Institute for Gemstone Testing). The examination by graduate mineralogist Bernhard Bruder revealed that the stone tested is nephrite. In contrast to other locations (e.g., Canada), the iron content is significantly lower. This indicates that this type of nephrite is a finely felted aggregate of tremolite, the iron-free or low-iron variant of actinolite. Both minerals form a solid solution series, meaning nephrite can have varying iron content depending on whether the tremolite or actinolite component predominates. Nephrite is defined as a finely felted aggregate of the aforementioned minerals.

Mineralogically, the material tested is a tremolite rock with chromite inclusions; commercially, the mineral is also referred to as nephrite, Maori jade, or New Zealand jade.

Modern crystal healing according to Michael Gienger recognizes nephrite jade as a stone for inner balance, which can help with indecision and doubt.
