Moldavite
Moldavite was formed approximately 15 million years ago when a huge, approximately 1.5 km long meteorite struck the Nördlinger Ries mountain range in Bavaria. The timing of this event was determined using potassium-argon dating. The tremendous energy of the meteorite impact caused the rock to melt, with its components being hurled into the air and cooling as they did so. The resulting minerals were distributed hundreds of kilometers in this process. The majority ended up in what is now the Czech Republic, in the area of the Vltava River. Moldavite was found on the banks of the Vltava River, hence its name. Glass formed by a meteorite impact and transported over long distances is called tektite. The areas where it is found are called strewn fields. There are also other strewn fields of moldavite in the Czech Republic, in western Bohemia. In Austria, it can be found in the Vienna Waldviertel region and in Germany in Lusatia.
Meaning of Moldavite
Because moldavite originated from meteorite rock, it possesses an otherworldly energy. This aspect of moldavite is evidenced by its use in astrology, divination, channeling, and dream journeys. Finds dating back to the Stone Age attest to its use as an amulet.
Moldavite has a reputation as a magical lucky stone. It can provide support for self-knowledge. It also helps us find solutions to various challenges or difficulties. It is also said to support its wearer in fulfilling their wishes. On the other hand, it is considered a stone that is said to reduce our desire for material things.
