Labradorite owes its name to the Canadian Labrador peninsula, where it was first found in 1770. Because of its shimmering colors, the stone is not only used as an ornament in magnificent buildings, but also many works of art and wonderful jewelry are made from labradorite. Shimmering like a magnificent peacock feather. Labradorite is a very special stone. Labradorite forms either magmatically in dunite, gabbros, basalt and anorthosite or metamorphically in amphibolite.
