A mineralogical specialty for discerning specialist collectors!

According to information from the original mineral dealer, this tiny ferrosaponite specimen comes from parts of the holotype material of the mineral species.

A holotype is the scientific reference specimen used to first describe and define a new mineral species. Such material therefore possesses special scientific and historical collection significance.

Ferrosaponite was recognized as an independent mineral species in 2002 and first described scientifically in 2003.

The official type material is kept in the geoscientific collections of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
