The hawk's eye stone consists of crocidolite and quartz. Crocidolite forms where large deposits of iron ore exist. The addition and solidification of silicon dioxide creates hawk's eye, which belongs to the oxide mineral class. The stone was already used in the Middle Ages to ward off witchcraft and the evil eye. Back then, it was worn as an amulet. Since the possible healing properties of gemstones and stones have not been scientifically proven, we only speak of the effects that are said to be associated with them.
Hawk's eye owes its name to its appearance after the stone has been cut. A cut hawk's eye strongly resembles an eye. According to Arabian myths, hawk's eye is said to bring the wearer greater cheerfulness, sharpen the mind, and bestow vitality and health.
