Charoite was first discovered and described in 1976. Contrary to the assumptions of various sources, Charoite was not named after the Siberian river Chara (chara, charity), but after the Russian word "chary", which means charming or enchanting.
It is found exclusively in this region. At first glance, this gemstone looks confusingly similar to sugilite, but on closer inspection it can be distinguished from it by its white inclusions.
Charoite is one of the most important healing stones of all."
