The Boulder Opal comes from Queensland
Opals were already considered particularly valuable gemstones in ancient times. They received a portion of each stone from the gods after they created the gemstones. Pliny the Elder therefore described opal as follows: “It has the delicate fire of the carbuncle, the brilliant purple of the amethyst, the magnificent sea-green of the emerald, the golden yellow of the topaz, the deep blue of the sapphire, so that all the colors are in wonderful mixture shine together.” According to Greek mythology, the tears of Zeus are imprisoned in the opal after defeating the Titans. Even back then, opals were considered healing stones, one of the strongest stones for the soul and for true love, as simply looking at them does not fail to have an effect. Even in India it has long been known as a good luck charm and the Romans were already mining it in what is now Slovakia. The name of the opal probably comes from the ancient Indian Sanskrit where it was called “upala” for “gemstone”. In ancient Greece it was called “opallios” and in ancient Rome “opalus”. In addition to its lesser-known synonyms, it also has a variety of trade names. The opal also has an almost endless variety of varieties, which differ greatly from each other in terms of opalization, i.e. the play of colors that is typical and unique for this stone. This is why the classification of opals from precious opals to common opals arose. The locations of opals are scattered all over the world, but Australia is one of the main suppliers with up to 95% of the total mining. Unfortunately, the best stones usually do not reach the European market because they are very popular in Asia and fetch higher prices there.
Opal effect
The opal has the greatest effect on us when we look at it. Because their unique play of colors, which can contain all the colors of nature, fascinates us and has a beneficial effect on our soul. The only thing comparable in nature is the wings of butterflies and hummingbirds. This opalizing causes our feelings to be amplified. The opal can therefore make the viewer very happy by bringing him into harmony with himself. In this way, it increases belief in oneself, as well as the will for self-realization, but also the associated acceptance, sense of community and ability to communicate. Because when you are happy with yourself, you also feel good in society. This is also the reason why the opal can help you find true love. It can also alleviate depression. The viewer becomes more open, more accommodating, but also consolidated in his or her opinion. But opals can also increase negative feelings, which is why they should not be looked at too often or for long. One can also get lost in the colors of this stone, which can lead to fatigue. You can also succumb to its beautiful shine, because it is not without reason that this gemstone is also considered the stone of thieves and spies. If negative feelings arise when looking at it, the stone should be removed immediately.
