OPAL

Pliny the Elder, a prominent scholar of ancient Rome, was already quite taken with the wonderful effect and radiance of the opal: "For in it you have the living fire of the garnet, the glorious purple of the amethyst, the sea-green of the emerald, and all of them glittering together in an incredible mixture of light." This stone enchants with its very special shimmer: the luminous play of color known as opalescence...

The history of the opal
The word opal originally comes from the Latin "opalus," which means something like 'precious stone,' though there is also a derivation from Sanskrit, which is not scientifically proven. Opals have always been considered very valuable gemstones, sometimes even valued higher than diamonds. It is no wonder, then, that opals were traded as very special stones in antiquity and ancient India and were popular for their positive effect on the human soul.
The effect of the opal
The shimmering opal ensures more joy, harmony, and balance on the physical level through its positive effect. It promotes our eyesight, has a balancing effect on sexual disorders, and strengthens the digestive tract: food can be processed faster and better, which also boosts the metabolism and helps shed the pounds. On the psychological level, the opal has a harmonizing, calming, and mood-lifting effect, which is why it can be helpful for depression and mood swings. And the black opal is not only an extremely valuable and sought-after stone because of its rarity: it is also said to possess almost mystical powers that enable our mind to see many things more clearly – medially gifted people are also supported in their clairvoyance by the black opal.

The opal unfolds its effect best on the throat chakra. On an astrological level, it is assigned to the zodiac signs Aquarius, Cancer, Sagittarius, and Pisces. To enjoy your piece of jewelry for a long time, you should never place opals in the sun, as they dry out extremely quickly, leading to the stones fading rapidly. Opals are also very sensitive to acids, soaps, makeup, or perfume. It is best to spray opals with water once a month. To discharge them, simply rinse them regularly under lukewarm running water and then charge them for a few hours with a rock crystal! Opal necklaces should be discharged once a month overnight in a bowl of hematite tumble stones and charged with a rock crystal.
With its intense play of colors, the fire opal gemstone captivates with a breathtaking wealth of facets. In terms of fire opal significance, these beautiful colored stones provide strength, promote creativity, and ignite sensual pleasure.

For thousands of years, people have used the positive energies of gemstones to alleviate physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental problems. The stones transmit their positive vibrations and are also used as protective aids or good luck charms. The fire opal healing stone, in particular, is a balancing colored stone that brings spontaneity, provides vitality, and encourages the implementation of new ideas.

"The boulder opal comes from the Queensland region of Australia. More specifically, the boulder opal is found in the southwest of Queensland, namely in Quilpie, Yowah, and Eromanga.
The sedimentary rock in this region dates back to the Cretaceous period. The rock thus originates from a time that began around 145 million years ago with the end of the Jurassic period and ended about 66 million years ago with the beginning of the Paleogene. Through weathering processes over the course of time – far into the Tertiary period – silicic acid was released from the marine muds with their microorganisms, which was deposited in the impermeable rock crevices and cracks. The constant alternation of moisture and subsequent evaporation finally led to the solidification of the silicic acid and thus to the beautiful opal."
