An exceptionally mineral-rich collector's specimen from the famous Madan ore district in Bulgaria.

The specimen displays a very beautiful combination of galena, sphalerite, pyrite, and calcite. Particularly striking are the numerous excellently formed galena crystals with their typical lead-gray, metallic luster.

Several of the galena crystals reach a considerable size for the specimen and show clearly defined cubic or modified crystal forms and prominent crystal faces. Depending on the incidence of light, a strong silvery-metallic shimmer is created.

Dark to nearly black crystals of sphalerite are situated between the galena. Gold-colored, metallic, lustrous pyrite crystals provide additional accents and form a strong contrast to the dark ore minerals.

Light-colored calcite covers parts of the specimen with fine crystal aggregates and sits directly on the ore minerals in places. This creates an exceptionally varied surface with numerous small crystal cavities and ever-new details.

Particularly interesting is the combination of several minerals typical of the classic Madan ore veins on a single specimen:

• Galena – metallic lead-gray, with prominent crystal forms
• Sphalerite – dark to black and highly lustrous
• Pyrite – gold-colored, metallic, lustrous crystals
• Calcite – light to cream-white crystal aggregates

Due to the clearly formed galena crystals, the high-contrast associated mineralization, and the high crystal density, this is a very attractive classic ore specimen from Madan.
