"Ulexite is a mineral of sedimentary origin that arises from the evaporation of saline or boron-containing lakes or shallow water areas.
Ulexite is a rare mineral, and its occurrences worldwide are correspondingly rare, for example in Fulda, Nordhausen, Saarlouis/Germany; Serbia; Kazakhstan; Türkiye; Iran; China; Arequipa/Peru; Iquique, Tarapaca, Antofagasta/Chile; Bolivia; Catamarca, Salta/Argentina; Oklahoma, California, Nevada/USA and Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador/Canada."
Ulexite is known, among other things, under the trade names Fernsehenstein or Televisionstone. These names refer to a special and unique property of Ulexite. If you grind Ulexite across the fibers (i.e. cut through them) and polish the top and bottom, an effect occurs that is familiar from fiber optic cables. If you place one side of an Ulexite on a certain surface (like a page of text in the photo), the area covered by the stone appears at the top of the stone. It's almost as if the text page had been teleported through the Ulexite to the surface.
