Moldavite
Approximately 15 million years ago, moldavite was formed by the impact of a huge, approximately 1.5 km wide meteorite in the Nördlinger Ries in Bavaria. The timing of this event could be determined using potassium-argon dating. The tremendous energy of the meteorite impact caused the rock to melt, throwing its components into the air and cooling them in the process. The resulting minerals were distributed over hundreds of kilometers during this event. The majority ended up in what is now the Czech Republic, in the area of the Vltava River. Moldavite was found on the banks of the Vltava and hence bears its name. Glasses that were created by a meteorite impact and transported over long distances are called tektites. The areas where they were found are called scattered fields. There are also other scattered moldavite fields in western Bohemia in Czech Republic. In Austria it can be found in the Vienna Waldviertel and in Germany in Lusatia.
Meaning of Moldavite
Since moldavite was formed from meteorite rock, it has a non-terrestrial energy. This aspect of moldavite is evidenced by its use in astrology, divination, channeling or dream travel. Finds from the Stone Age already provide evidence of its use as an amulet stone.
Moldavite has a reputation for being a magical lucky stone. He could provide support for self-knowledge. He helps us find solutions to various challenges or difficulties. It should also be able to support its wearer in fulfilling their wishes. On the other hand, it is considered a stone that is said to reduce our desire for material things.
