Labradorite owes its name to the Canadian Labrador peninsula, where it was first found in 1770. Because of its shimmering colors, the stone is not only used as an ornament in magnificent buildings, but also many works of art and wonderful jewelry are made from labradorite. Labradorite forms either magmatically in dunite, gabbros, basalt and anorthosite or metamorphically in amphibolite.


Labradorite (also known as spectrolite) is a now rare gemstone and is a colorful lucky charm. It often combines many colors and shimmers in numerous facets. It is a stone that should not be used in combination with others.
