Lingams have a tradition in India that goes back thousands of years and some stones are still venerated in sacred places today. The Hindus worship different types of lingams, such as those created in nature from rocks, rock formations or ice pillars, often meters high - and handcrafted, of different sizes in different designs and materials. The lingams that remain firmly in place are called acala lingams, in contrast to the movable lingams, which are called cala lingams and are found in house temples or even, if made at short notice, for example from sand or clay, are destroyed again after the rite.
A Shiva Lingam is a stone in honor of the god Shiva.
Shiva means “light” or “fire”, Lingam means “pillar” (or “tower”). Shivalingam means "pillar of light (or fire)"
Origin and Occurrence of Shiva Lingam
The Shiva lingams with red markings are found only in the Narmada River in central India. According to ancient Guru tradition, the Narmada is the holiest of the rivers. In the powerful water masses of the Narmada River, stones are ground into the phallic shape of the Shivalingam by constant rotation. If necessary, the shape is corrected, then the Shiva Lingams are cleaned and polished according to traditional methods.
The colors and shape of the Shiva Lingam
In the Shiva Lingam, the male Yang and female Ying energies are united. The egg shape of the stone symbolizes the male energy and the red-brown part (the yonis) the female energy. The Shiva Lingam has a light gray and a reddish brown part, which vary in size depending on the stone. The sequence of colors is almost the same for all stones.
Application and effects of Shiva Lingam
Shiva Lingams ensure serenity, relaxation, self-realization and mental clarity. They provide the energy you need to better cope with emotional crises. They help you to keep an overview, to be independent of other people's moods, to find peace of mind, to become more flexible and creative and to protect yourself from other people's negative thoughts.
According to previous experience, this stone also counteracts infertility and strengthens virility. It also helps to regenerate the organism and provides strength and energy.
The quartz composition (with basalt and agate), the shape and the origin make them powerful energy generators. It should be set up in the house or apartment so that the energies can flow unhindered.
It is very suitable as a grounding element during meditation. If you meditate regularly with your personal Shiva Lingam, it absorbs the energy and radiates it again - making it a very valuable companion on the path to your inner self.
