In crystal healing according to Hildegard von Bingen, the heliotrope, also known as blood jasper, plays an important role as a source of energy. The name heliotrope comes from the Greek “helio” for sun and “trop” for turn. As a “solstice” he returns what was out of balance to a good balance.
