Charoite is a mineral that can only be found in Siberia and is very rare. In stone science, the healing stone is still quite young, which is why many of its uses have not yet been fully clarified. Nevertheless, experience has already been made with the mineral as a healing stone.
Charoite – origin and history

Charoite was first discovered in 1948 in the area around the Chara River in Siberia. It only occurs in this area, which is why the river gives it its name. However, the actual deposit of the purple rock was only discovered in the 1960s by the Irtutsk geologist couple Rogow in the area of the watershed between the Chara and Tokko, its tributary. In the 1970s, the charoite deposit was examined in more detail, and the mineral was described in 1976. Charoite has been a recognized mineral in the IMA list since 1978. The precious and healing stone is known exclusively under the name charoite. Since it is a very young gemstone, there is no historical information about it. Since it is only mined in Siberia, it was only used by the locals for a long time. In Siberia it was primarily used as a decorative stone, but was also used as a protective stone against evil spirits. The inhabitants of Siberia are said to have boiled and drank the stone in their tea to increase their immune system, especially in Siberia's cold winters.
Charoite – occurrence and formation

Charoite forms metamorphically and hydrothermally in volcanic rocks. As a rule, it is accompanied by different minerals such as feldspar, aegirine, quartz or nepheline. The very rare mineral is mined exclusively in Russia (Murunsk region in Siberia).
Characteristics of charoite

The charoite is lilac to dark purple or pink to purple. It is assigned to the monoclinic crystal system and forms fibrous or dense aggregates, flattened crystals and masses or stalactites. It has a Mohs hardness of 5 to 6, is translucent to opaque and completely fissile. Charoite is unstable to acids.
Charoite – effect and use as a healing stone

Charoite is still considered a relatively young healing stone in stone science, which is why there are not too many descriptions yet. Nevertheless, it has already been used as a healing stone and can help alleviate some ailments. Different application options are conceivable. Charoite is now increasingly used as a healing stone, where it has positive effects on both the body and the soul.
Effects of charoite on the body

Charoite is considered a very powerful healing stone that has a stabilizing effect on the immune system and thus strengthens the defense system. It also has a calming effect. Charoite can also provide relief from tendonitis. With the help of charoite, the alkaline metabolism is promoted, the nerves are calmed and vegetative disorders are alleviated. As a healing stone, charoite relieves cramps and pain, can be helpful for eye and heart disorders and stimulates both blood circulation and pulse rate. The healing stone also improves the function of the liver and pancreas. Charoite is also used in the treatment of cancer.
Effect of charoite on the soul

The charoite helps its wearer in hard times and gives strength and toughness when it comes to having to deal with unpleasant situations and things. As a healing stone, it gives bravery and courage so as not to duck your head. The Charoite gives its wearer decision-making power, awareness, calmness, energy and good nerves. It helps against worries and stress and can therefore promote restful and peaceful sleep. Furthermore, charoite, as a healing stone, promotes the ability to concentrate and also performance. Charoite is considered a mysterious stone, which is why every wearer has to have their own experiences with this healing stone. However, it certainly helps to make life freer and more independent and to drive away excessive fears. In this way, he can also bring more harmony to the process of disconnection between children and parents, which means that it is not perceived as quite as painful. With Charoite, order is restored in life and one's position in life is strengthened. It also frees you from resistance, making important decisions much easier to make. In children, charoite is said to alleviate fears of the dark and of large animals when held in the right hand. As a “dream stone”, charoite is also said to have magical properties. This is how it is supposed to have an effect on the unconscious and reflect this in dreams, visions and strange “ideas”.
Possibilities of using charoite

Charoite is used in stone science as a healing stone, primarily in the form of tumbled stones. Basically, it doesn't matter what shape the stone has, but raw minerals usually have very sharp edges. The decisive factor for its use as a healing stone is the pleasant feeling when it comes into direct contact with the skin. Charoite is currently rarely used in meditation, only if there is a personal preference for this healing stone. Charoite, on the other hand, can often be found in stone circles, where it can be optimally combined with many other stones. Although charoite can be used to produce gemstone water, essences and elixirs, they are rarely used in stone science. Charoite water is very powerful and should therefore only be produced by an experienced specialist (e.g. trained alternative practitioner) and used under their supervision - at least internally.
Precautions when using charoite

The charoite develops its effect as a healing stone primarily on the third eye (forehead chakra). In meditation, in combination with amethyst or suglilite, it releases blockages and helps to make decisions more easily. Charoite is not assigned to a zodiac sign as either the main or secondary stone. It is simply a balancing stone for those born as Virgos.
