Apatite
The name apatite comes from Greek and means something like “to deceive” (apatáo). This name is attributed to the fact that the stone is often confused with other stones such as aquarmarine, beryl or calcite.
Apatite is an anhydrous calcium phosphate. Previously often confused with other stones, the healing stone became known primarily for its strong blue color. It is so popular as a healing stone because it is very rich in minerals that are also found in the human body.
Apatite – origin and history
Apatite is found in Brazil, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Norway, Sri Lamla, South Africa and the United States.
Apatite occurs hydrothermally in pegmatites and metamorphic limestone, but also forms in igneous rocks or from organic material in sedimentary rocks.
