Its sky-blue color is caused by the element vanadium. Larimar belongs to the silicate mineral class.
Larimar was first discovered in 1974 in the Dominican Republic. It began to be used as a gemstone in the early 1980s. Because of its sea-blue color and in honor of his daughter Larissa, the local art expert Miguel Mendez coined the name "Larimar" (mar = sea/Spanish). When the deposits along the southwest coast were exhausted, Mendez discovered another source seven kilometers from the coastline. The blue pectolite is mostly available as a polished cabochon and is highly sought after as a gemstone, stone of the future, and healing stone.

The effect of Larimar primarily relates to the expansion of the intellectual horizon and shows new paths with different perspectives. In this way, Larimar healing stones support the restructuring of one's life by dissolving ingrained patterns of thought and behavior. This opens up multifaceted possibilities that steer thinking and acting in a positive direction. The "Atlantis Stone" gives people serenity and inner peace. As a protective stone, Larimar guards against negative energies.

Effect on the psyche

Larimar promotes restful sleep and provides pleasant dreams that take you back into your past. The sky-blue stone stands for clarity, orientation, and peace. Through its healing powers, Larimar is significant for the harmonization of energies that stimulate intellectual growth. Its sea-blue coloring radiates vitality, which is why the healing stone is helpful for grief and sadness. Furthermore, the Atlantis Stone protects against infidelity, treachery, deceit, and false friends. In its meditative function, the energies can unfold even better in interaction with other blue stones such as turquoise or chalcedony. You should discharge the Larimar once a week under warm running water and charge it in the morning or evening sun for about 60 minutes. You can place Larimar healing stones directly on the skin.

The light-blue Atlantis Stone is particularly suitable for reflexology.
